Andy Irons Retires: Founds “Drivers Against Roadhead”

HANALEI, KAUAI, HI – Legendary three time world champion and wave smacking specialist, Andy Irons, has unexpectedly announced his retirement from professional surfing last Thursday, apparently to pursue his life long dreams in road safety management on the islands of Hawai’i.
When questioned about leaving the tour, Mr. Irons has indicated that it’s time for him to “give back” to society because he feels that “surfing has done so much” for him.
Mr. Irons intends to use his surfstar status to promote his new Drivers Against Roadhead Foundation, which he feels will make the roadways a “safer” and “more better” place to drive.
The organization’s sole pursuit is aimed at stopping RoadHead, which is a growing problem among today’s younger drivers.
“The most recent statistics indicate that 90% of motor vehicle accidents are caused by driver inattentiveness. And the number one cause of driver inattentiveness is totally Roadhead. That’s why I’m starting the Drivers Against Roadhead Foundation: to help curb this senseless loss of life and limb on our roadways,” Mr. Irons stated.
